Berlin → Istanbul: delayed or cancelled?
The BER–IST route is 1685 km great-circle. Arrive 3+ hours late at Istanbul — or get cancelled with under 14 days' notice — and EU261 entitles each passenger to €400, whatever the ticket cost, unless the cause was genuinely outside the airline's control.

GOOD TO KNOW
- Technical faults and crew problems pay out. Courts treat them as normal airline operations, not extraordinary circumstances.
- A family of four claims €1600. Compensation is per passenger, and one letter covers the whole booking.
- Old flights count. Up to 6 years back in England & Wales, 3 in Germany, 5 in France — check the limitation period where you'd file.
- Vouchers are optional. You can insist on money — Article 7(3) requires your signed agreement for anything else.

A claims company would take €140 of your €400. AirOwed generates the same formal demand letter — correct citations, 14-day deadline — for free while we test it. You send it and keep every euro.
