Turkish Airlines delay & cancellation compensation
If your Turkish Airlines flight arrived 3+ hours late, was cancelled at short notice, or you were denied boarding, EU261/UK261 entitles you to fixed compensation of up to €600 (£520) per passenger — independent of the ticket price. Turkish Airlines flights are covered whenever they depart from an EU/EEA/Swiss or UK airport, whatever the destination.

EXCUSES THAT DON'T HOLD UP
- "Technical issue" — technical faults are part of running an airline and are not extraordinary circumstances (Wallentin-Hermann, C-549/07). Compensation is due.
- "Crew shortage / rotation" — crew planning is within the airline's control. Compensation is due.
- "Strike" — strikes by Turkish Airlines's own staff are not extraordinary (Airhelp v SAS, C-28/20). Only third-party strikes (airport, ATC) excuse the airline.
- "Knock-on delay from an earlier flight" — rotation delays are the airline's operational choice. Compensation is due.
